Why I collect pennies

May 28th, 2008

A Penny
I found a penny today, Just laying on the ground,
But it’s not just a penny, This little coin I’ve found.

Found pennies come from heaven, That’s what my Grandpa told me,
He said Angels toss them down, Oh, how I loved that story.

He said when an Angel misses you, They toss a penny down,
Sometimes just to cheer you up, To make a smile out of your frown.

So don’t pass by that penny, When you’re feeling blue,
It may be a penny from heaven, That an Angel’s tossed to you

One of the very, very few “pass this on” emails I ever paid attention to was about pennies. It said that our money has God’s name on it, and that a penny (or dime or whatever) shouldn’t lie on the ground. It’s disrespectful to Him. Since then, whenever I see a penny on the ground, I pick it up out of respect for God (and not for any respect for the one coin I wish didn’t exist).

I remember that email too. Isn’t it sad though that God is being sensored from just about everything. I got an email a few weeks ago about the founding father and how their statements about their trust in God are being ommitted from history books. God is the reason we even have a free country.Fortunately there are still people who believe and know this to be true.
